ABOUT FELS
FELS is a non-profit organization that awards enrichment grants to Lincoln-Sudbury High School faculty and staff to pursue their professional and personal interests and passions. FELS was founded in 2000 to offer parents a tangible way to show their appreciation to the L-S professional staff for the unflagging dedication, tireless effort and genuine caring they routinely offer our children.

PAST GRANTS

Since 2000, FELS has awarded an average of eight grants a year. Past grants have ranged from funding for fieldwork and attendance at conferences and workshops to funding for personal creative ventures. A sampling of grants include an on-site study of the Alaskan ecosystem, researching marine phytoplankton at a University Lab, attending a workshop on student behavior disorders and a grant to make a documentary film.

THE APPLICATION AND SELECTION PROCESS

Interested teachers and staff submit a one-page grant proposal with associated costs for up to $2500. A selection committee made up of parents, staff and community members evaluates the proposals and selects each year's recipients. Preference is given to proposals that either benefit school related activities or contribute to a teacher's professional or personal development. Grant activities must take place after school, during school vacations or over the summer. Grant recipients are expected to share their experiences with the Lincoln and Sudbury communities through public forums.
